[Please read this] PC Version here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88qRbLLEAPQ This video will demonstrate how to install CM7 onto your Nook Color using a Mac. This is the *BEST* ROM I've used on the Nook Color to date, so I'd highly recommend that everyone updates to this. Enjoy! :)

----------

Having problems with the Market? Use this version of CM7 instead. http://download.cyanogenmod.com/get/update-cm-7.0.2-encore-signed.zip

Stuck on the CM7 boot animation? For some reason, it likes to stay on it the very first time you boot on the device after installing or updating. If you reboot, it should go away. If not, keep rebooting until it does. The max amount of times I've heard this takes is 6 reboots, but that's really rare.

Getting an "Error: can't format /data" error? It seems like the newer Nook Colors have a different partitioning scheme vs the older ones. Please follow the instructions on this page to resolve the issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1094371

----------

**Important note: Please note that this wipes *everything* off your internal drive. If you want to undo this, watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szlGSBtWbKY

***Also, I'm not responsible if you screw anything up and damage anything. Now, it's almost impossible to brick your Nook Color, so as long as you follow the instructions, you should be all set.

****This roots your Nook Color. There is nothing that needs to be done beforehand.

----------

Code used in the video:

To find what disk # your microSD card is, type:
diskutil list

To unmount your microSD card, type:
diskutil unmountDisk /dev/disk#
(Replace # with the disk number of your microSD card.)

To write the ROM file onto the microSD card, type:
dd if=/Users/YourUsername/Desktop/clockwork.img of=/dev/disk#
(Replace YourUsername with the username of your account on your Mac.)
(Replace # with the disk number of your microSD card.)

NOTE: After you enter that last command, you might get an error message saying "Permission denied." Don't panic, I got this a few times too. All this means is that your microSD card is set to read only. To fix it, all I did was eject & re-insert the card until it was read/write. (Note: You'll have to redo ALL of the terminal related steps. Just re-enter the code.) To see the status of your card, go to the disk utility, click on your card, and then near the bottom of the window, it'll say either "Read only" or "Read/write."

  • i did it and it says this:

Desktop/clockwork.img: No such file or directory

    heres whats on my desktop:

    CM7.zip Googleapps.zip clockwork.img

  • Worked like a charm! The google apps didn't install properly the first time around, but other than that things went exactly as described in the video. Thank you!

  • Are you able to convert back to a Normal Nook?

  • I want this video on my W920 phone.

  • This root worked for my wife's NOOKcolor, except toward the end, when installing a couple of the apps (youtube and another), it said the install failed. I skipped them and finished the install. Then later, I went to the Market and tried to download the Kindle app and Youtube again, and it said the apps were not compatible with this device. Any suggestions to get it to be able to download them? Fyi: Angry Birds downloaded and installed normally.

  • After I finish the installation process and reboot, I keep getting the message INSTALLATION FAILED, is it because I have the 1.4.1 software???

  • I have mine rooted but now I am trying to use the sd card for the barnes and noble app and it says that there is no sd card inserted when there really is. My question is can I remove all the zip files other files that were used to root it.

  • Awes0me vid but should i root mine? I heard that when u root it, it doesnt let u sign in to ur B&N account. Or sometimes it doesnt work and Barnes and Noble doesnt offer a refund if it breaks while being rooted?

  • Hi, Thx for posting. I have searched for an answer on this and the pc comments sections, but have not found anything. If I have a 32GB class 10 card, (PNY) do I have to install the 16gb clockwork mod, or should I use a different version. Will this affect my space or how it performs? Thanks for any help out there. All I have done so far is nooted my NC but it just isn't enough. I want to enable bluetooth and overclock...thx again.

  • I followed all the instructions, everything worked except for formatting the data. When I did the system reboot it says it failed and to turn off my nook and turn it on again. So I did and it turned on, but it's stuck at the revolving arrow around the android dude. I've tried turning it off and on again, same thing. I've tried turning it off and then holding down the power and nook button at the same time.. nothing. I'm freaking out cuz now I can't do ANYTHING with my nook! :( Please HELP!!!
