My Fuller & Johnson 3hp N hit and miss engine on its first good run. It has been suggested that this engine falls somewhere in the 1920-1922 model years. Since the tag is missing there is no certain way to date it. The connecting rod and entire rocker arm assembly are homemade, and the piston is one from an IHC M tractor that has been modified to fit this engine. This was all done by the previous owner before I acquired the old gal. So far all I've done to this engine is replace a few springs with better fitting ones, polish up the check valve seat, change the fuel line from galvanized pipe to copper line (much easier to access the check valve that way), adjust the ignitor, and replace the lawn mower muffler that was on it with something a little more period appropriate. The mag has been removed since it wasn't working anyway and I didn't see any reason to put more wear on it.
sounds great!! I have a 3 HP just like this one. The only difference is the fuel filler is on the opposite side. It is a 1923.
