Yesterday I spent the afternoon at the Earth Day Festival in Pasadena, California. It was held at Memorial Park, just north of Old Town Pasadena. There was quite a lot to do there, especially for the kids; including performances from local musical groups and various performers, arts and crafts and other kids games, rock climbing, horseback riding, eating, window shopping the earth-friends vendors that helped sponsor the event, and my favorite, the debut of a zero-emissions vehicle here in California (See my other video here in YouTube)! In the next few days, I'll try to post more videos of the event. In the meantime, I wanted to share with you something I had a fun time watching. An organization called www.TheWish.org, who is devoted to spreading peace and environmental awareness through art and music, was at the event and was able to draw quite a bit of attention using what they called a Kiddie Protest. They provided the materials for children to paint signs and then do a few laps around the event, led by the Millen Sisters (www.theMillenSisters.com), protesting for their favorite causes. Really, my description here doesn't do it any justice so just watch the video.

  • Do these kids look coersed to you fmdrdd?

  • Hey!!! Protesting is NOT A GAME!!!

Unless they're 18 years old, they have absolutely no business being at protests.

[and I mean this for people on both sides of the political spectrum]

I find it despicable when parents bring their kids to "bring more numbers" or they can't find a babysitter. Or as a way of indoctrinating their kids into what they perceive as "good citizens."

Let the kids develop into their own persons!!!

You should be ashamed of yourselves!!!

  • TheWish cannot thank Gary Isse enough for his wonderful documentation of our "Kiddie Protest", on EarthDay 2007.

As part of "A Child Shall Lead Them" feature, the Kiddie Protest allows our youth to express their concerns and empowers children by giving them a chance to use their tiny voices to bring about positive change.

  • I am very impressed at how the Millen Sister's work so well with the children. They are truly gifted souls...

half-angel half human, sent here to make the world a better place.

  • Great video, thats right, peace on earth!
