  • This would be ideal rail expansion for coal! the grade is there

  • yes, its a great vid with great sounds, you did very well old boy. jeff . London

  • Great video. This line possibly could have been used for coal from a Powder River Basin expansion, even. Too bad the MILW abandoned this and many others (like the one thing that was keeping them afloat, the Pacific extension), with their idiotic management of the late '70s/early '80s. Too bad...the line ends at Kadoka now, but I've heard recently the Dakota Southern railway plans to reopen the mainline in almost its entirety between Mitchell and Kadoka, so that's some good news.

  • This is interesting, I love trains. Thanks for posting this!

  • @railstoruin Insturmental version of Martina McBride's 1994 hit Independence Day.

  • Neat slideshow. Any other places I could look to find photos of these guys crossing through the badlands?

  • Who did that great Kick-ass soundtrack ??? Great vid !!!

I worked for NYCTA & I always loved Trains !!

  • In the shadow of the Pacific extension, this route was, as a couple other posters say, an "unremarked" line that is "not seen that often." My mom was born and raised in one of the small communities along this route, and she has talked of taking the train, in the 40s and 50s, and how kids in town would go to the depot to watch the coming and goings of townspeople. Thanks for a great job!!

  • this is a nice tribute for milwaukee road i like the video AWESOME
