I suspect during the '80s & '90s British Fords were better made than North American models.

Not for nothing do some people say that CVH stands for Constant Vibration and Harshness.

Oddly, I remember this advert and I was barely 2 at the time! Thanks for posting.

Ooooooh weren't those old TV advert presenters ever so posh.
-
They were a huge seller when new, as they appealed to a wide range of buyer...base 1.3 up to 1.6 ghia with the XR3i and RS Turbo for the sporting man...the XR3i looked great as well, however they could rust quite bad, especially underneath

@quirpco Sure the latest European German built Focus is better than the American built one!

I've an '82 Mk3 1.3 L as a restoration project. They're nice cars, but the CVH engines are pure shite. Seized hydraulic tappets is order of the day.

I remember these-even the 1.3 cvh- as being quite nippy back in the day

I had an F reg blue 1.3 popular, bag o shite and less power than a lawn mower
Just got my self a J reg MK 4 Escort van in white. It needs abit of work doing on it. I remember seeing a few J reg mk4 escort vans around in the early 1990s. I have over the years seen a J reg mk4 escort ghia in blue and a J reg Orion mk2 in red (a mk4 escort with a boot for anyone does not know). My mate Dave saw a K reg mk4 escort van bombing it down the M6 years ago.

@WAYNE1977100 Must be rare as I thought J reg was MK5 Escorts.

I loved the MK4 Escort, I had an F,reg 1.4 LX and then a G,reg 1.4 L. You can't beat old Fords, old cars are a lot better then all this modern crap thats about.

@WAYNE1977100 I agree with you. I was lucky enough to have owned the mk4 Escort RS Turbo. That was a machine and half till I wrapped it around a lampost in Doncaster :)
