@debbiemiklich I not a 100% sure, but when you go through the hitting zone (contact) you want the palm up and palm down position with your hands. This let's you stay on the ball longer (on plane) and if your roll early or flip through the zone it really shows doing this drill. The small bat is lighter, regular size bat hard to hold onto if you do flip or roll.
