The church and Bible school/classes should be teaching their parish. Science is to be done at the educational level where it holds merit of it's validity as we've tested the empirical data rigorously to date. PS Love you Cara!

They can read the bible in their own time. What is there to "learn" about the bible? You read it and decide for yourself whether you think it has any credibility to it and that's it. Or do you mean that the child should have the bible interpreted to them and and told that everything in it is the absolute, undeniable truth? If they want to teach bible in class they need to state there is zero evidence to support any of the claims. Will they do that? I suspect they will say it is absolute truth.

Im starting to think liberals support anything remotely related to anti-christian mentalities. Im Christian and i don't care if the school i go to offers elective Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, wicka religious studies. Funny we Christians are allways the ones being called closed minded.

His point is they teach Greek thelogy in English class. In English class I read the Odyssey and the lliad. However I don't see people saying separate of church and state.

Why would the class cost money? Am sure the local church in the area could arrange for a person to teach the class for free and the kids could bring their bibles.

What is there to "learn" about philosophy or a humanities class that are electives. I read the Odyssey and it didn't benefit me, but I still had to read it in school. You do realize the history channel did a special on holy books? Parts of the bible have been proving historical right.

They teach evolution in high school, and yet there is still a treasure trove of contradictions towards the theory.

...And they can learn about their religion in their own time, instead of forcing atheists to waste their time learning about what they know is complete bullshit anyway.

BS! If that was the case then why would it need a separate class? Why not teach it in classical literature? Why only the bible and not world religions? And intolerance and distrust in this law is a perfectly understandable reaction, given the track record these fundies have trying to legislate creationism into schools.
