In a grandiose décor that wouldn't have looked out of a place in a painting by de Chirico (Rome's "Square Colosseum"), a host of established and emerging fashion talents came together with some of the most prestigious Maisons for a unique celebration of craftsmanship and avant-garde.
Presided by none other than Silvia Venturini Fendi, Altaroma has fashion running through its veins. Created a few years back to promote the excellence and tradition of Italian high fashion, it has been showcasing a new generation of talents and given more and more space to avant-garde and innovation.
Launched Friday, Limited / Unlimited is a prime example of this new direction. A series of young designers were paired with a few of the noted fashion houses whose excellence wrote some of the most glorious pages of Italian couture and recreated their classic designs, 21st-century style. yoox.com, a long-time partner and supporter of Altaroma, picked 8 of these special collaborations for a new interactive shopping experience, "live from the museum". Leitmotiv for Simonetta, Nicole Brundage for Gherardini or Max Kibardin for Albanese: each and every one of these new generation wunderkinds developed a special relationship with the maisons whose archives became a fantastic source of inspiration for their one-of-a-kind re-editions.
Spotted at the launch cocktail: a series of fashion heavyweights indulging in light banter, including Suzy Menkes, Franca Sozzani, Silvia Venturini Fendi, Delfina Delettrez Fendi, Mark Holgate and some thirsty-looking designers.
ABOUT LIMITED / UNLIMITED
Now in its third edition, LIMITED /UNLIMITED is a curatorial project developed by Silvia Venturini Fendi to represent Altaroma's new soul: avant-garde ideas and research encounter sartorial tradition, to give life to neocouture.
LIMITED/UNLIMITED is a project designed to highlight creativity. A group of fashion designers have been invited to express their creativity with exclusive limited edition garments. Unique pieces, dresses, accessories, footwear or jewelry, will be used to interpret the "Ceremony" concept. From the classicism of virginal white to the deepest black, from the purity of form to the opulence of the jeweled garment. A contemporary reinterpretation of the concept of couture.
