Jesus said, 'love your enemies.' Judas said, 'kill your enemies.' Jesus said, "give to the poor." Judas said , “What are you willing to give ME? " ("if I deliver him over to you?” So they counted out for him thirty pieces of silver. 16 From then on Judas watched for an opportunity to hand him over.) Hmmmmm....
Jesus didn't ask / demand that his feet be washed at all. This is the same Jesus who declared himself a servant and washed his disciples feet. He simply protected the woman, who had spontaneously poured out her most precious possession on him as her worship, from Judas' condemnation. Jesus highly valued the poor. He led by example and taught his disciples (then and now) to feed the poor, to care for the poor and to give to the poor.
Mt. 19:20ff. The young man said to Him, "All these commands I have kept; what am I still lacking?" Jesus said to him, "If you wish to be complete, go and sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me."
Luke 12:44. "Sell your possessions and give alms; make yourselves purses which do not wear out, an unfailing treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near, nor moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." Jesus
Luke 14:12-14. "When you give a luncheon or a dinner, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, lest they also invite you in return, and repayment come to you. But when you give a reception, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, since they do not have the means to repay you; for you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous." Jesus
Thanks for uploading. I know the Roy Bailey version, but am now almost starting to prefer this one as it cuts to the chase more. Still, the lyrics remain superlative; it's fascinating to think of Jesus demanding expensive oils be used to clean his feet, rather than be sold to help the poor. As such, that spirit of selfishness has helped to make the modern world what it is. I always thought Jesus was 'holier than thou', but now see he was self-centred too. So stand up, stand up for Judas!
@lzbthdhrty Judas sold out a hokey charlatan!
