I really hate retards.

I know a lot of people on Odsp and nearly all of them are lazy bums who don't want to work.

A lot of them PRETEND to be retarded just so that they don't have to work.

The real problem is likely your feelings about yourself. 100% of the people in this video contribute to society through paid and unpaid work.

Getting and keeping a job is difficult for people with intellectual disabilities, particularly given that false beliefs and hateful attitudes like yours are still out there in society, creating ongoing barriers to community inclusion and contributing citizenship. It is truly very sad that you are so far behind in your thinking.

I can see why they might have their account suspended. I was going to delete that comment but realized it was better to leave it there. It's easy to fool ourselves into thinking that society has embraced people with intellectual disabilities as full citizens, but really there is a long way to go. Comments like that help us all to understand that there is still work to be done.

Ya? well fuck you, your a piece of shit, My brother would love to work, actually he would work for next to nothing if he could. But unfortunatly he has a Disease called CMT and that fucks his nervous system so he has extreme troubles in walking and hand coordination. Yet hes up every morning doing yard work and helping around. Hes not mentaly effected but he is physically effected.. So Watch what you say you fucking asshole disgrace.

Nobody said your brother would not love to work. Nobody said anything about your brother at all.

What was said is that it is very ignorant and hateful to make comments such as "I hate retards" or to say that people with intellectual disabilities are lazy.

Those types of comments contribute very little, just like calling someone you don't even know "a piece of shit" and "a fucking asshole disgrace" doesn't really contribute much of value to the dialogue.

@mupine67 you have no idea what you are talking about. Its quite difficult to fake it (though some doctors cheat for cash). Everyone I know thats on odsp cant work, myself included. I would LOVE to be able to go back to what I did before (welder), I loved my job, but I couldnt do it now, Not only because Im no longer capable but because the insurance an employer pays would go through the roof if I did. Its not possible to pretend to be mentally ill, the doctors on the board can spot that QUICK.

There is no question that many people deserving of support are denied ODSP benefits and you may well be one of them. I am not sure if you have exhausted the appeal process, but quite often an appeal is required and hopefully your lawyer can help you with that.

Someone who is suffering from depression to the extent that they have been deemed elegible for ODSP undoubtedly are in need of that support.

thank you for making this video, i am doing a presentationt for school on ODSP and i went to the gov't website, but this video stated alot of stuff in laymans terms, thanks!!!
