Edinburgh Antifascist Demo Against EDL/SDL 2010 part 2/2

In Edinburgh antifascists marched throughout the city to ensure that racist organisations planning a march of their own did not get to spread their message of hate. As well as marching there was much chanting and some people used home-made musical instruments such as an empty coffee tin and a whisk for percussion. There was an abundance of assorted anti-racist placards and various banners including a Scottish Socialist Party banner declaring "No pasaran!" "They shall not pass!" referring to the fascists. The edl were traced to a pub and the demonstration went as near as it could but large barriers of police prevented the crowd from reaching them. At one stage during the demonstration news was received that a group of antifascists confronted some fascists who were arriving and together with some police sent them away again. There was much cheering at that news and the chanting and drumming increased after that and a few people started dancing and this video ends at that point. Later on, demonstrators managed to go round and get very near the pub trapping the fascists inside and the police ejected the EDL/SDL one by one onto a bus. The SDL did not make any inroad into Edinburgh any more than they did in Glasgow 3 months earlier. Once again they were routed. The placard slogans "Fascists not welcome here" were very much in evidence.
