This is a video tutorial on how to open a Dell Inspiron laptop; specifically the 1525. In this video it is opened from the top side, the keyboard is taken off.

From there you can take off the additional screws to get to certain parts of the system that aren't found on the back side. But I can't find a document on the internet showing how to do it, so I'd rather not break my laptop.

This happened to me, then when Dell took my laptop to repair the LCD, they fixed it. Just contact them mate.

  • Please I have one question:

Accidentally I spilled water on my Inspiron 1525 three days ago and now I have a problem with the key board area where the water spilled over (The direction keys) ... They are kinna messed up now and keep hitting up direction most of the time and I can't even scroll down now.

Do you think that if I get a new keyboard for my Inspiron will fix the problem?

Please, this is just an advice and I need someone's opinion in this matter.

Thank you and enjoy the christmas

  • That lid at the start of the vid, for the laptop I am working on, the thing really don't want to open all the way like it did to you and I am so afraid of braking it! Please Help?

  • thank you so much

  • @tasercs

Yeah, I will, I'm getting so fed of up having it toiling when I'm only running one website. I could see if I were streaming like some 1080p video, but if I'm just on my Gmail, that shouldn't be happening. That and I just cleared out like 25 gigs, so it's not a space issue.

Thank you sir, and have a pleasant weekend! :D

  • @Illumirage Good, I'm glad the speakers weren't anything more serious! Definately look into the dust over the fan thing when you get a spare moment. It's only a few screws and when you see the clump of dust that comes out, you will be amazed! It will run very quietly after as the fan can do it's job without struggling. If the thermal paste thing doesn't make much sense, do a quick google search on that too. Good Luck :)

  • @tasercs

    Oh.

I knocked one of the speakers off my desk when I was moving things around, it must have turned off when it hit the ground or something. It's fine now.

Thanks for the advice both now and earlier, I'll look into it.

  • @Illumirage ok... check if anything else works in the USB sockets. If not, maybe you have accidentally dislodged one of the delicate cables inside the case? If you do a search for 'Remove Dust from Dell Inspiron 1525' that will explain how to clear any dust from the fan. Ideally, you would apply fresh thermal paste during re-assembly which is like toothpaste that conducts heat very well. Very cheap from any computer shop. That video looks a bit daunting but it is very easy and essential.

  • @tasercs

Wow, a lot of what you just said flew right over my head. I'm by no means a tech guy at all, or at least I don't know my way around hardware. And for some reason, I just realized this....my speakers no longer work, since I reassembled the thing. I'm actually pretty fuckin' mad right now.

My speakers are hooked up via USB, I have no idea why taking off that strip affected that....

FYI, I don't know what 'thermal paste' is, or a 'heatsink', care to explain?

  • @Illumirage Great! Another top panel saved from the bin! I was VERY alarmed at how hot my CPU was. The dust had formed a thick carpet-like block and the fan was going mad to try and compensate. Easy to sort out though. Don't forget the thermal paste when you put the heatsink back..It's more important than you think (says the man who once cooked a CPU I was testing without a heatsink cause I thought it would be fine for 'a second'... it wasn't lol

  • @tasercs

Yeah, thanks for that. You sir are why I read the comments, I'd have snapped the thing, I bet.

Just trying to figure out how to get some of the damn dust out of this thing, because I never remember it being this loud for even performing small tasks...
