This video goes over the steps in which i am trying to clean up my Cyanobacteria outbreak.

1. Lowering my light cycle to 8 hours from 8.5
2. Changing my RO/DI filters
3. Adding Carbon media bag to system
4. Changed Salt brands

  • @209bdawg very often many go for 8 hours.

  • i changed my light cycle like you did too. my lights come on at 4pm until midnight. looks like a grow room from the outside looking through the blinds with the blueish glow.... might bout with cyano was won with more water flow lower in the tank across the sand....good video keep us posted bro.

  • @jmadden184 well hope I get the same luck with a few tweaks

  • Good choice of salt. I've been using reef crystals exclusively for the life of my tank. I would get cyano from time to time, because I didn't make my own RO/DI water. You never know what is going with the systems at your LFS. They make a LOT of water, so who knows if they're doing maintenance on their RO/DI unit the way they should. Once I started making my own I haven't had a problem.
