I loved the magic pencil. Can you guess which letter I'm describing from magic pencil? "Top to bottom, round and flick!" :-p
-
@emu69emu That's spelling not grammar - you should have said "bullie's"!
-
We used to watch this at school, and I still find myself singing the phrase, 'magic, magic, e' at times.
-
"Who gave you permission to leave your desk PC Morgan? And I'll have your ruddy guts on a pike if I ever hear you refer to a senior officer in that manner again, do you hear lad?"
-
what is he saying on the bill??? it really is impossible to work out, even after all the loling.
-
Hero!

@batmanofni I'm no Lynne Truss, but it's called a split digraph. It always accompanies a vowel (making the vowel a long sound) but has at least one other letter keeping it separate.
-
Does anyone know what the proper name for 'magic e' is?

I'm a bit of a Grammar Nazi myself, although, watching this, I'm beginning to reconsider...
"30p apples, hmmm, so the 30 pence belongs to the apples does it? Hmm, no I dont think it does at all, no I think you meant '30 pence for your apples'"
Just buy your fruit and piss off!

Lol, 'magic e'!
Of course, by the end of the 80s, the majority of ravers agreed with Wordy!
