Field Dressing my 5x5 Bull 1.5 miles from the nearest road

After taking my bull, it took all 7 of us to dress him properly and carry down the mountain to the nearest road--1.5 miles per gps.
Took the elk at 10:30am. We made it to the road at 5:30pm.

The biggest challenge was getting the guys to me. Thank goodness we keep hand held radios in our packs....just in case.

How'd you guess?? No elk in south Louisiana. We sure enjoy travelling to Colorado every year to chase them around the mountains.

I had no idea this video would get the amount of views it has received. We were just trying to have some fun and record parts of our trip. While we were dressing the animal, one of the guys asked me to film some of it for our families. Pretty cool.

I couldn't imagine doing this by myself. Having the extra help makes it more fun than work.

be careful using plastic bags to haul meat out, it can spoil very quickly in plastic garbage bags. Use store bought or pillow cases so the meat can breath and cool quickly.

again, plastic bags are a NO NO...

i solo hunt. get my animals out by myself...........i would love to have that much help when i get an elk down. sure am glad i forget how hard it was the year before.......lol. congratulations on the nice elk!!!!!!!
