It was Eric Carmen, back in 1976, who originally appropriated this. He mistakenly assumed it was in the public domain. Celine Dion's version is only a cover.

I don't care about a piano key being slightly out of tune, I just really like the way he plays. One of my favorite pianist!

@Kaggypants I truly love Philippe Entremont's recordings with Ormandy and Bernstein; all four are available from Sony--I'd like your feedback on those recordings. He does No. 2 with Bernstein conducting the NY Philharmonic.

Can you recommend another recording to me so that I may compare? I am not a fan of Kissin's.

@Kaggypants I'll try listening again when I'm in the mood. Sometimes another listen will prove a person wrong.

@dedbusted It's fine. The rubato is perfect and it DOES build beginning at 6:58. He adjusts the tempo and arcs into fortissimo quite nicely.
Clean your ears out and listen again.

Actually the G-sharp on the right hand was little bit out of tune - that's why it sounds like a wrong note ;)
