Hey blues fans! Here's a Billy Gibbons style lick that he uses quite often. You hear it in LaGrange, Jesus left Chicago, and Thunderbird. Lots of other players use it, too. Enjoy.

  • what pick do you use?

  • I'm not sure. I think it was a Fender jazz pick.

  • The Chords on the GT song are A D E A FOR THE VERSE

    AND B TO (7THFRET)E

    just an idea for the solo

    thanks

  • The opening starts with a double stop on the 2nd fret, D & G strings, and hammer the 4th fret D string. Then play the 2nd fret G and 3rd fret D together, and hammer up to the 4th fret on the G string. Play this again, then pull off.

  • I like your style! Easy, simple, and not trying to be something professional, not a poser. Very good stuff!

  • thanks man. you're clear, concise and helpful. And accurate. Well done. Plus, you know a lot of licks.

  • Dude i congradulate you and admire you giving lessons. But #1 joe walsh riff is totally incorrect.and your Gibbons LaGrange is also wrong. Please dont think me a hater, but try playing IN TIME and hear the individual notes and you will hear it.I dont have a cam-or i would put a couple riffs up myself. But Bless ya for spreading the love of music

  • great ... guys watch my videos ..wanna hear if i can make a tutorials

  • Cool man! Loved the LaGrange thing. When you finish up that LaGrange lick, try bending that C note (on the A string) instead of sliding it up...Pick the A note, pick the C note, and just bend it up, then pick the octave A note on the G string. It sounds way cool, and is fun to play it like that instead of sliding up the fretboard. I think that's how Willie G does it. Try it and see what you think?

  • srv lick maybe???

  • Your guitar is very very small or your fingers are very very long?

  • thanks for posting , love the simplycity of your tutorials,just think you should change your camera angle shooting up the neck...peace & chicken greace..(~);}

  • nice view of you knuckles???????????????

  • Great video,thanks

  • How do you do the dub-dee-doodle-dum sound at the end of the riff?

  • Good solid stuff, you can also keep walking down on the 'd' string for an old country style turnaround. The blues is so cool, here you can see how one lick gets changed a little here, a little there, and you have a ''new'' riff. It just grows from one person to the next. All it takes is work, and love of D BLUES
