I have heard plenty of crime stories about spouses being killed for insurance money, and the one common factor is thats always done by people who are extremely stupid and would most likely waste that money going to court. If your wife isnt stupid, she won't kill you. Ever.

@JTD19881369 You might have married the wrong woman..but it will cost about 10k to bury you and the loss of your income can make paying the mortgage pretty hard. How long would you like your wife, OR YOUR CHILDREN, to be taken care of after you die???

It's for the people that live.

Money has traditionally been a motivating factor for crime, including murder. The fact is people have been killed by family, friends and associates for life insurance. It's often the people you least suspect. Money changes people.

are you sure about that law? Because wall street is now buying insurance policies from people, packaging them into securities and selling them to investors (yes, just like they did with mortgages). wall street calls it life settlement. So now the situation is that when the original policy holder dies, the payout goes to the holder of the security. That result would be a violation of the law you quoted. So is wall street doing something criminal (again), or what?

i agree. life insurance is trully necessary for all families but it is very important to know what exactly it is that it covers and if the beneficiaries will really get ALL the money promised by the agent. Agents lie. Read the policies!

Everyone should have life insurance, it's not a joke.

The type of life insurance that is right for one person may not be right for another. It all depends on your unique financial goals and circumstances. At the LIFE Foundation, were product neutral and dont favor one product over another. However, we think it would be a mistake to rule out an entire category of life insurance. Our best advice is to do some homework prior to making a purchase. Its an important decision, so you want it to be a highly informed one.
um ... so .... what if i dont want life insurance ... i mean .. why give my wife a reason to kill me ?? ... ya know what i mean ...

You're funny, paranoid, or are in need of marriage counseling! Seriously, you remind me of an insurance concept known as "insurable interest." Laws were enacted in the 19th century to ensure that life insurance is used by those with a relationship to the insured, such as a family member or business partner. They keep us from getting policies out on strangers for the reason you raise. The principle doesn't apply here. Get life insurance to protect your family. Learn more @ the lifehappens website
