Steely Dan has just as much (if not more) validity as jazz rock fusion as any instrumental or solo driven group such as jeff beck's or gary moore etc. Why do you disagree with that? Just because their music is thoroughly composed and polished? HAVE YOU HEARD AJA? or the caves of altamira, or Dr. Wu, or sign in stranger, or your gold teeth? are you aware of how many jazz covers of steely dan there are and how widely respected they are by serious musicians worldwide?
