Countless children play this piece in countless piano recitals, but almost none play it as it should be played. The brilliant prodigy Daria Korotkova is amazing here, capturing the hypnotic magic of this famous movement at the very beginning and maintaining it in one long, seamless phrase, from beginning to end. The line, the legato, the elegance of the phrasing, all go to show why this extraordinary young pianist is properly called a prodigy.

  • It's one of the most emotional pieces of music of all time so it's hard for children to connect with the pain and sadness in it. Daria does connect with it so I hope she continues with music, as it's easy to read music but quite another to play music.
