Here's the final part to my Merlin and Arthur series.
After Morgana's attack on Merlin, she escapes and Merlin is left there dying. Arthur finds Merlin just as Morgana disappears. Merlin is treated by Gaius, but there is nothing that Gaius can do to save him. Arthur is heartbroken as he sits there watching Merlin drift away from him. The time finally comes and Merlin dies. Everyone mourns Merlin's death remember just how great a person he was. Gaius talks to Arthur about making plans for his funeral, but Arthur is too grief stricken to think about it. They take Merlin's body back to his home village so his mother can be there to say goodbye. Arthur thinks about Merlin and what they had together and Gwen assures him that they will be alright. Arthur however is not convinced. Hunith watches Arthur go through his grief and talks to him. She knows what he is going to do. He is going to find a way of seeing Merlin again instead of trying to work through his grief.
Arthur tells Hunith that it is his fault that Merlin died because he couldn't protect him. He leaves to go and find a way of seeing Merlin. He succeeds and Merlin assures him that it was not his fault and that he will be a great king one day and with that he disappears. Arthur gets a bit stronger and decides it is time to go back to Camelot and take up his duties while his father is still recovering from the shock of morgana's betrayal. His knights support him. But he still misses Merlin and everything reminds him of Merlin.
One evening, he sees a figure running through the mist. Who could it be?

@TheBluelady98 Merlin died, but he is allowed another chance and so he returns to Arthur. At the end Merlin is alive
