I will give you the fact that trumpet is HARD to sound good and play good. But every instrument has it's challenges, that guitarist who has been playing for 4 years may sound passable, but they are in no way *great* and it takes a lot to be *great* at anything. Thing about music and instruments is it is actually a lot about understanding music in general (everything about it). The technique comes second to that.

@hearts76100 and one more thing at 2:41 something happens.... if you can respond to anything I say - could you please tell me what you hear happening?
-
@hearts76100 at 0:28 someone shouts "hold on" ... please hearts... do yourself a favour and try to listen to the difference between what happens prior to that and how Miles hits his tone after and dont let your mind or anyone tell you that you are not "in the know" .... you've landed on this clip for a reason.... anyway if your impatience now stops you - please come back to this clip another time... thank you for YOUR time
-
Well your obviously in the know and im not, so i think we'll leave it there!
It is something that im not blessed with but again thanks for your time!

@hearts76100 Duke Ellington is Duke.... music is emotion so you have to feel it... you cannot access it with your mind... it has to resonate with your being... pure and simple.... now listen to silence... silence within and silence outside.... foley is a guitar-player and as per usual plays too much.... what else dont you understand?
-
Very interesting............ive absolutely no idea what you talking about but thanks for trying to explain the genius that is Miles Davis.
Regards

@hearts76100 As Duke said - there's only good and bad music. Music has its own reasons and only music that resonates to you makes it good to your ears. Listen with your heart... open it up and it will come to you - specially if you listen to the space between the notes; what Miles does not play. Also once he starts playing without the mute (kind of like a high wire act on any level) his silence adds too much to mention. At the end Foley kind of overplays.... but thats just nerves.

thanks for the info about foley playing bass in this song, he's crediticed as lead guitar player... and by the way this do sounds very similar to live around the world version, but i dont think's the same recording, but I haven't heard the cd recently..haha...
