Thank you doctor for making this video. More doctors need to be educated in this problem. I would like to see urologists be trained. Because as you know the PC muscles can effect not just sex but can cause problems with urination, with the spincter. Please get the word out not just to patients, but to the doctors.

one of the really difficult things about vaginismus, is that it isn't the only female sexual issue, there is also Vulvodynia, which is very similar to vaginismus, infact a woman can have BOTH of these and not know it. It is so difficult to differentiate between the two. There really does need to be more "Exposure" of this topic. The worse thing is when some one who doesn't have it, looks it up and says, "It's all mental, It's all in your head." It's like "F*ck, No It's Isn't"

Most of the time I will treat 2-3 patients on the same day. The bonding and support is amazing. From the time they return to the recovery room through the next few days when they are advancing their dilators, this is often the first time they have had someone else to speak to.
The husbands or partners (and sometimes their mothers) also do their own bonding. We encourage them to go out ot supper together, and they get to know each other and maintain contact afterwards. This is very freeing.
Women with vaginismus are invited look at our new website vaginismusMD (.com) which is devoted entirely to the understanding of vaginismus. We also encourage women to join our Forum which is completely private to share their own concerns as well as receive education about this disorder. We recently treated our 150th patient with the Botox program and patient's continue to achieve high rates of success.

There is considerable confusion and misinformation about vaginismus vs. vulvodynia. The default diagnosis is often vulvodynia and this diminishes the importance of vaginismus. Though many of my patients appear to have both, in fact struggling with vaginismus plays a larger role. The two can be differentiated with careful testing and examination with sedation to determine if there is spasm of the vaginal muscles, usually the entry muscle. If so, treatment with Botox and dilators can be curative.

I am currently overcoming vaginismus and I am documenting my journey on my blog (overcomevaginismus.blogspot.com), I plan to contact Dr. Pacik so that I can have this procedure done. I will keep the details of what I am doing on my blog so that others can be encouraged and educated.

Thanks for documenting your powerful journey on your blog. Most health care professionals do not understand the importance of classifying vaginismus according to the severity of the condition (Lamont classification) and therefore much time and expense is wasted. You seem to have the most severe form of vaginismus and your uncle dying of AIDS likely contributed to the reflex protection of your vagina. Contact me personally at ptpacik@verizon.net and I'll send you more information.
