hhey guys im a newbie to the bike world and have been looking at the 600cc range bikes as a first mainly the 98 zx6r yami r6 and honda blade would thes b to much for me being 5ft 9 and 17st i no i need my cbt but don't see the point of spending 2k on a 125 when you can get good examples of these for 500 more

@chilby00 I've just done the shims on mine and the hunting is still there, but it idles much better and pulls better too. However, at idle it smells a bit rich so I think I'll hve to check the pilot mixture. My gearbox whines and alot when I accelerate hard. I guess the bearings need renewing. The ZZR is a good bike. It's a real bad boy and makes you one too.

@1100HondaCB these bikes are supposed to have the valve clearances checked at regular intervals ( 5000km I think ).. but I doubt that gets done since the rocker cover is hard to get at and you have to use different thickness shims to get the clearances right. I think the "hunting" is likely a need for re-shimming of the valve clearances. Mine needs doing, I know. A few extra hp and less fuel, but I like the sporty rumble personally :-)

@chilby00 At idle my one "hunts".

@Smutley13 just put couple of wood sticks under the side stand good luck!

@Smutley13 The problem I have with my ZZR600 is the gearbox whines a bit. I might change the gearbox bearings soon. I brimmed the tank, then took it for a ride on the motorway at a sensibe speed and then brimmed it again in order to work out the economy. For 27 miles I used 2.04 liters. I thought that was pretty good and just shows if you ride a performance bike sensibly, you can get good economy. The ZZR I guess is better on fuel than the CBR. Even my GS500 use to stutter at 2000rpm.

@1100HondaCB Yup, this bike used to pull fromlow down really well. The CBR600F I currently have (same year as this) will not do a great deal unless you are above 5k rpm. It will pull from lower, but nowhere near as well as the Kwak.
In order to tune these carbs the bike needs to stand straight and not tilted.

@benhamin3d This bike does not have a main stand or paddock stand, so it was tilted or nothing. Although I fail to see how balancing would be affected by the tilt on the bike.
