I don't know why they don't put extinguishing systems on these machines. It would only cost a few hundred dollars to protect a 200K+ machine, not to mention potential crop loss. A simple pressurized water system with a little foam concentrate is all you need.

Those "cheap" plastic panels you refer to are made out of a soybean by-product thereby increasing the value of the very product the machine is harvesting. Expensive steel panels would only make the machine even more expensive and take away profit from the the bean farmer driving it.
