  • If you like this video of the solar tower, find the Discovery Channel video (Youtube will not let me post the link) on the EnviroMission's solar tower. It is quite good. Click my alias, and you will see a list of my videos. Click the one with the hot air balloon. It is worth watching.

  • Will the tower survive an earthquake? If it tumbles down in the desert nobody will be wounded, and there is no radioactivity as in nuclear power plants.

But the investment into the concrete tower would be gone. Or you use an elastic construction or a WEEBLE TOY tower ;-)

  • According to the current events in japan this can become interesting - but what happens with the tower in an earthquake? Elastic material could be a solution.

And if the tower should tumbles down in the empty desert nobody will be injured.

  • EnviroMission should definitely have a checkered chimney like in this video.

Solar energy is a popular method of generating power. Here the energy from the sun is converted into electricity. Though the United States is not the leading producer of solar energy in the world, places like California are switching to solar power to meet their energy requirements. Transformer company, Pacific Crest Transformers has whitepapers on the renewable energy market in the United States.
