Here at The Crypt Sessions we intend to mesmerise with an eclectic mix of the finest acoustic music known to man, capturing the lo-def audio genius of acts old and new in lush hi-def video. So what better way to kick off our first episode than with an offering from Brightons finest up-and-coming singer-songwriter, Shona Foster?

Blessed with a rare and uncompromising talent, Shonas a proper artist and (if theres any justice in this world) shes set for greatness. Her songs are dark and lustrous, intimate and burlesque think Kate Bush in seamed stockings, locked in an ambiguous clinch with Tom Waits on a velvet chaise-longue. Set against Matthew Gests virtuoso piano accompaniment, La Fosters god-given voice will give you goose bumps and leave you begging for more. Good job, then, that she and her band are recording their debut album as we speak.

I thought for a minute i'd died and this was surely the voice of angel calling me home.

That was what music was meant to do. She took me somewhere i've never been and I feel a better person for it.

Right at the end she drops a few notes to hum the last bit was beyond words.
