I learned to drive in a 1973 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser! What a great car that was. They could go super fast!

Chevy called it's version the Glide-Away tailgate. At the time the automotive press noted the disappearing tailgate was the answer to the question nobody had ever asked. The motorized tailgate disappeared in 1977 when GM downsized these models. I remember sitting in the front seat of a '76 model and couldn't believe how cavernous they looked from the inside. A long lost era indeed.

The car is cool but that little old lady is cooler!
My mother had one of those wagons and loved to play with the back door and window. People thought she was crazy and showing off.
Today I do the same with the automatic sliding doors on my minivan and people think I am crazy and showing off.
The times changed, the people haven't LOL

OH MY GOODNESS.. memories memories memories. My mom had a 76 Caprice Estate... with the good ol' 7.4 Litre 454. That was my MOM'S car and my dad had to get her permission to drive it. I learned to drive in that tank and took my driver's test in it. My dad told me that I drove it better than any of my siblings did!
