Is there any surviving footage of her beam in '68? If not, that would be suspiciously convenient.

She stood up for what she believed in. If the other gymnast that she was forced to share the podium with is still alive I hope she feels bad. She must have known this was Vera's moment and hers alone.

she has so much poise and grace! to defy the sovet union in a way that said it all, and with out lowering her self at all, she came out of the situation looking like a far better person then if she had shouted her opinions from the roof tops. it probably got the point accross better too.

Are you serious???? "That's when this sport loses fans"... That's why I don't like gymnastics (and I'm a gymnast). It's not always what the judges seem to see....
