Engine 1 and Ladder Company 24 are seen here responding out of their quarters on W. 31st street and crossing 7th Avenue. Ladder Company 24 took delivery of their new truck in November, 2011. It's a 100 foot aerial built by Ferrara on Ferrara's Ultra custom chassis. Ferrara was awarded two contracts to build rear-mounted aerials for FDNY, the first was for 20 trucks and then in July, 2011, they were awarded an additional contract for 21 more rear-mounted ladder trucks for $22 million. This in addition to Ferrara's construction of other vehicles for FDNY, including the new Rescues, some of which are already in service.

  • @code3paris Was that ladder a Ferrara, I thought the FDNY was ordering new Seagraves.

  • @Miercolini Check the description. FDNY has contracts with Ferrara to build a total of 41 rear-mount 100' aerials.

  • blue lights on FDNY? cool, but i don't like

  • @aetzw4zer All new FDNY fire apparatus will have rear-mounted blue lights. Some companies have already begun retroactively fitting blue lights on their rigs such as Squad 18. A comprehensive study done in 2008 by the University of Michigan Transport Research Institute for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and the

United States Fire Administration (USFA), showed that blue was the most conspicuous color in any age group, day or night.

  • @code3paris

I didn't think FDNY was running Ferraras for some of their front line rigs! From what I'm familiar with, FDNY mostly runs Seagraves in front line service.

  • @kurtdog119 As I said in the description, FDNY has contracts with Ferrara for 41 rear-mound 100-foot aerials, plus other rigs (the rescues, etc). You will see more and more Ferraras in NYC.

  • FUCKIN SEXY

  • i dont like the new ladders, compered to the rest of the truck the ladder looks 100 times smaller

  • Engine 1: I'm so cool, better than L24. Truck 24: I'm newer than you. Engine 1: Damn it

  • oh hell yeah, I been trying to find a video seeing the ladder 24 in action. Sweet rig. Now trying to find how Ferrara did with Rescues 1-5.

  • @bohemoth1 recent amendments to the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law allow for rear facing blue, or combination of red, blue and/or amber on fire apparatus and police vehicles. Only should a combination of blue/red be rear-facing. (in New York)

  • are the combination of blue and red lights. I personally do not favor any NYS Public Service Entity with blue lights. The volunteers are of couse the exception to policy, Long Respond the Buffs!!!!

  • I think that blue lights in New York State should be in compliance with the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law (VTL). Solid Blue lights are reserved for Volunteer Firefighters and Solid Green lights are reserved for volunteer ambulance personnel. The combination of Blue on the Right and Red on the Left (setting in the vehicle) is reserved for Federal Law Enforcement including the Presidents Limo. However there are some exceptions to policy, on the volunteer ambulances and fire apparatus there

  • both new tsu units are ferrara and from what ive herd ferrara is out to bid on the squad engines

  • @superbuff861 i am familier with the stutter horns. never heard them sound like that tho.
