@ThePeteAwesome The NHL and its players union reached a labor impasse right before the preseason was to begin. As a result, the league was locked out in mid-September and games were cancelled for five months before NHL commissioner Gary Bettman announced that the 2004-2005 NHL season was cancelled on February 16, 2005. The '05 NHL Entry Draft was cancelled one month later. The impasse was finally resolved on July 21, 2005, after 310 days. The draft was rescheduled and held ten days later.

The old nhl 2k games were like a modern version of nhl 94. The recent ea nhl are great but too complicated for my taste.

FUCK YEAH GO DEVILS

I miss the days of good hockey games, playing NHL 11 feels like having a piano on your back, even with a player with 99 speed.

wait, what happened in 2004?

@TaInTeDlYnX EA did not buy them out. EA bought out the rights for Football fron the NFL. EA was also outbid for the rights to do MLB baseball games and that is why they stopped making MVP baseball. All this is bad for us the consumers and I wish that the sports leagues did not sell out to just one company. It slows down the competition.

I liked the 2K series better since they're more fun. It had a more arcade feel which, for me, was like a throwback to what EA had done back in the mid-90's. All the unlockable jerseys, classic teams and arenas were fun but most of all there wasn't this huge gap in the difficulties. I feel like with NHL 10 or 11 it's either way too easy or way too hard.
