The HW "Impact Sport" models are excellent high value electronic earmuffs for the money. Proven in many shoots in TNP, they are adequately durable, fast responding, stable during movement, and have good battery life. Moreover I prefer the single battery compartment of this model and the single and easy-to-use volume control with auto turnoff. If you're looking for mil-spec tactical earmuffs with comms integration, these probably aren't the best choice. For that capability you will pay about 5 to 10 times the price of these Impact Sports. But for most users they will function well for the reasonable cost paid.//////////////Nutnfancy Likability Scale: 9 out of 10 (price considered)/////////////// Music: www.torley.com

  • I just bought these and am very impressed with overall quality and ease of use. There is no hissing like I hear with my Peltors and they fold up in a snap. The switch is recessed so it won't turn on so easily like the Peltors do. If they do turn on, they shut off automatically in 4 hours. They even came with Duracells and an audio cable. I just got them today so I haven't shot with them yet, but I'll follow up with my impressions when I do.

  • Great vid. Hearing protection is like most things, some is good, but more is better.

  • im an Artillery guy buy trade and yeah... hearing is an issue for me now .. it sucks but i protect my ears as much as i possibly can these days

  • all that dangerous stuff, you said you did.. i did too.. especially the B.B. GUN WARS ha ha ha ha ha awesome..

  • wish I would have seen this before I bought the peltor 6s.... Only spent 37 bucks though so not too bad. another thing is, on a hunt going through thick brush, i lost one of the little muff things on the peltor. Luckly peltor sent me a replacement.

  • Heh, I shoot at an indoor range mostly and the 23 decibel rating on my passives are most definitely not enough for the .40, .45's, and revolver rounds. Always, always have to double up.

  • Is that cut on the outside of the muff to accomadate a stock? I have passive Howard Leights which do a nice job but I get stock interference. I feel like I lost protection for no reason! Think I'm going to get these just because I ordered an 'evil roy' target and I want to make sure I can hear it (I double up with ear plugs & my passive muffs)

  • I'm glad you covered the dual vs single volume controls.

Even before I saw this review, the single volume control was one of the major points that made me choose the HL Impact Sports over the Peltors. There honestly really is no point for dual volume controls.

  • @bmx65 GunSport Pro GSP1. They're the only ones I know of and they are prohibitively expensive. I've looked into it too because I can't shoot rifle with headphones on, but 500 bucks is just too much to pay for that particular convenience

  • i bought some really good peltors for 12 bucks and they work great
