Too good to be true, these poisonous and delicate bulbs are in many homes, and Edison's competing bulb will be ILLEGAL within 10 years.

Edison's bulb is already being phased out in Australia and probably other places.

  • The world governments are taking over! They must be stopped!!!

  • @TrollingOnline dude, u talk too much, stfu already. maybe ur too stupid to realize that most cfls do not have, not even close to the life span has promised. and ur not saving much simply because they take a while to warm up and there other things in ur home that contribute to the electricity cost. Maybe ur brain washed into believing all this "green scam" but most of us arent that stupid. until u eco friendly nut jobs pay my light bill, i will decide how to light my house.

  • in most cfl there is a bit of berillium oxide... it's not so good! the risks of a broken cfl is the same of a broken florescent tube fl

  • another thing about cfls, they emit dangerous amounts of uv rays

  • i have a quiestian please answer what did u do before you knew about it and what can it do to you because i broke one in my house a hour ago and i sweep it up and put it in a plastic bag and put it oustside

  • @777Petunia (cont.) I cringe when I see a loud, crass shopper scuff along, throwing a bunch into their cart. Ewe. How can people be so oblivious? We (the American public) need to expose this, before it gets out of hand. Think about all the people who have these in their home! ...and who probably don't know how to handle them properly! All of that needless mercury is going straight into our bodies, into our kids' brains, and into the landfills... just like lead-laden christmas tree lights...

  • Thank you for putting this up, Mr. Cooper. This is frightening... terrifying. I've never once purchased a toxic curly cue twist of mercury. I've known what was up since the beginning. There's nothing good about fluorescent, whether it's in long industrial tubes or in those cute, marketed-for-the-dull, little bulbs. I'm horrified when I go into a shop and see a wall of mercury, and then next to it a tiny little spot for the Edisons...

  • @stickedU

Respect Edison, please. He was smarter than we'll ever be. At least he stayed away from Mercury...

  • YouTube search: "CFL Grow Light Explosion!"

  • MrCropper, I found this video while researching the general attitude of the people towards CFLs I agree with you that these are hazardous items, more so than Edison's bulb. It is also interesting, if you research it, that the EPA has deemed EMF emissions as a Class B carcinogen and that fluorescents fall into this category. As far as your closing statement about not ever buying one of these CFLs again, you should do another video about alternatives since incandescent bulbs will not be an option

  • yes they are very fragile, broke one last night when I dropped it not even a foot onto a table, traditional bulbs are a little more durable, even better, the LED bulbs

  • i only found this out yesterday!( oct.17,2011) The public got hoodwinked on the subject of these light bulbs. How could something so dangerous be distributed so widely without anyone knowing their danger? This is an example of what environmentALISTS are all about, going green regardless of the cost or danger.
