  • I admire Rebecca and agree with her. Waiting until marriage is the right thing to do because God commands it in His word.

  • Hey ya'll, skip the arguements. Becca hit the nail on the head here (meaning that it all lines up perfectly with Scripture - the ultimate acid test).

  • @sweetsweatyfeet You say virginity is rooted in barbaric ideology? I can think of nothing more barbaric than today's sexualized pop-culture. It manipulates people and brainwashes them into wasting their virginity!

  • @sweetsweatyfeet Also, not everyone marries. Many men and women for various reasons remain single much if not all of their lives. Do you really wish to deny them a sex life?

  • @flamedancer48 A woman should not be judged AT ALL by her choice to be sexually active. You imply her virginity is somehow a favor to her husband. Maybe to neanderthals who relish the idea of being the first conquer a virgin but to any man with an ounce of respect for women, it wouldn't matter. If she chooses to remain celibate fine, I respect that as long as it's her choice but if she has chosen a sex life---you need to respect that too.

  • @sweetsweatyfeet No, I don't think you should judge a woman's moral stature by only her

virginity. To want to stay pure for her husband and enjoy the many benefits of being so

isn't bad and if she wants to follow Yahweh in that respect- I'd say, go for it; it will only be beneficial to her emotional and physical health. The God of the OT and the NT judged men just as harshly (look it up). Even if a man was not caught the Bible says, "Vengeance is mine says the Lord."

  • @flamedancer48 What "she" is cow-towing to is derived from the grossly inequitable and unfair treatment of women by the order of the god yahweh (according to O.T. scripture). Purity was not a requirement of men and the penalty for an unchaste woman was to have stones pelted at her until she is slowly tortured to death.

To judge a woman's moral stature by her sex-life before marriage?--yes that IS barbaric.

  • @sweetsweatyfeet Does she seem like she is doing something barbaric?

  • The origins of the "purity" movement are actually quite sinister and barbaric. It's a throwback to the vile Old Testament when women were considered like property---where a unchaste woman was considered unmarriable to the community and worthless to her father since no dowry would be paid.

Some religious cultures take it to such an extreme the husband parades around town with the bloody sheets after the wedding night. Were she not a virgin, both the bible and Koran call for her death by stoning.

  • @MissKristinka8 Your logic escapes me since... how can I hate something that I don't believe exists? I don't "hate" your god---I just don't like what some Christians do in the name of their god.

The very language you use consisting of dogmatic and baseless assertions ("one and true god" and "opens your heart to the truth" reveals not a rational, skeptical, inquiring mind but one captured by a cultish and pinched view of existence. However reality still exists for you to one day rediscover.
