This is the Zoo in Murphy, NC. The animals sleep on cement. The conditions are not fit for any true animal in a zoo. See what you think.

  • I have lived here for many years and the "Zoo" has been shut down many times for cruelty but the current owners take very good care of the animals

  • I'm glad I didn't stop there on my last trip to Murphy. While I can't really comment on the conditions since I haven't seen them myself, I think I would have been sad. Also - you sound like a fun dad :)

  • Ahh.. this is BEFORE all that market burned.

  • My family has visited the zoo several times and the zoo is awesome. It is very evident that the animals are well cared for and loved.

  • I seen the tiger cub

  • If the animals are so miserable why are they producing offspring? Stressed unhappy animals don't do that. The concrete is for sanitation and to prevent escapes. Most of those animals are rescues and very well loved not just by the owners of the shelter but also by the community. They get much more personal attention than most larger zoos. And they are safe. Would you like them to be released so "sportsmen" could gun them all down for fun?

  • @virsynth You seen the zoo? Or just commenting blindly?

  • @Thechuckshow1 Thank you for the reply. I do not see how some people comment that this is a great zoo. My family and I were sad for the look in the animals eyes. They need to be out of there.

  • I visited this so called zoo just yesterday and the condition have far worsened since your visit. The goats hay (which isnt rly hay, but bedding straw) was wet and they were literally eating the paint and wood off of their shelter. The chimp is by himself, so depressed. The lions just lay there wiht a blank look on their faces and the bear just paces back and forth. This is awful deplorable. There needs tobe something done.

  • Went to murphys zoo in June of 2011. I thought that the animals were well taken care of. Very clean as well as taken care of. Lots of animals at zoo are rescue animals. Very neat place to visit
