Minimally invasive hip replacement is now available at Carle. The procedure is performed by orthopaedic surgeon Michael Moran, MD. The minimally invasive procedure uses the same joint components as traditional methods, but smaller incisions are used for placement. Smaller incisions result in less cutting of normal tissue, and in turn, patients experience less post-op pain, requiring less pain medication and a faster recovery. This procedure is widely appropriate and can be performed on most patients with arthritis or avascular necrosis of the hip.
