This Film Noir is in three short segments, told within a series of flashbacks at a speakeasy bar and first person narratives. A gumshoe detective Mick (Les Ispanky) receives some payola to shake down a slightly cunning femme fatale Cynthia (Sharon DeStefano) who keeps an automatic tucked away in the leg of her stocking and in her purse.

She overhears a phone call that her mafia kingpin boyfriend Vincent (Ken Selig) might be cheating on her. This can only mean one thing, MURDER! She is then tracked by the kingpins right-hand man and hit-man Johnny (Christopher Sorrenti) and tries to escape his grasp.

Shot in 16x9 and 24p in 1998 for the sum of $9,000, we picked up two awards for our film noir short. One in Bristol England and the second in the Tacoma Washington Film Festival.

Les is really a great actor and totally played the part of Mick the gumshoe. He also came through with helping me getting the film produced as executive producer and was there for the long haul!

The Apple Macintosh video company Radius who, started the digital video desktop revolution in 1992 was so impressed with our piece that they gave me some really high end professional editing hardware to edit my film with. This consisted of two of their desktop video flagship products: Radius VideoVision Telecast SP™ and two Radius StudioArrays™ as well as Radius Edit 2.0™ (editing software) to continue my filmmaking efforts.
I ran these products with my PCI bus FWB Jackhammer™ board and it rocked!

They also, played my film at their booth at the worlds largest computer show Comdex in Las Vegas on a huge 16x9 screen.

  • I thought this was great. I also like to read noir also, and found there is also a video "Noir Naiton" here on Youtube that is very interesting. It looks like they publish Graphic novels as well, and will reach the e-pub audience on Kindles, Nook, iPads etc. Their Facebook page looks interesting, too.

  • Very interesting storyline.

    Where was this filmed?
