Pestering the Cave Spider

This is my pet. He is a mature male specimen of Damon diadema, commonly known as the "tailless whip scorpion" or "Tanzanian cave spider". He is actually neither a spider or scorpion. He belongs in the class Amblypigi which means "Blunt Rump" They are not to be mistaken for Uropygi; the "Tailed whip scorpion" or "Vinegaroon" He is pretty harmless, but can mislead you into being very slow, and then take off in a flash, and they are FAST! My boy is actually incredibly chill and handleable, although it's not recommended to handle them too much, because they are very fragile and if spooked, can run off the edge of your hand and fall to the floor, breaking legs and antennae. They eat maybe one cricket per week, require relatively high humidity, wide vertical space and moderate temperatures and also require a type of overhang from which to molt upside down from. They are believed to be one of the few "Social arachnids" And mothers will caress their young with her antennae, which are actually modified legs, used as sensory organs and held up above the body, while they walk on 6 other legs. They're a very beautiful and ancient-looking species. Hardy, if kept in proper enclosures. I definitely suggest them as pets to people with older children and who don't wanna do a lot of handling. Vinegaroons would be your best bet for a handleable pet. :)
