Sounds like the exhaust is knocking against the body.
-
Choke - how cute.

What is the name of the first song.

Love this car! But the antifreeze leak could cause a nasty burn.
-
That rumbling noise could be exhaust mounts as well, I know my van had a rumble that drove me pretty crazy. Neat car!

The valve works half way . the engine sounds great though. very impressive for a nearly 50 year old car

THat box is a voltmeter which plugs into the cigarette lighter to tell if the alternator is putting out enough voltage to charge the battery. There was a leak right from the bottom of the heater control valve which is under the dashboard but once the valve was opened it seemed to stop.

bad heater core?

I don't think it is.... It looks like it is just at the valve which controls the temperature which is located under the dashboard here. The heater core is actually in the middle of this car.

SouthJK would know more about the history of Volvo but he also has a 1959 model so I know they went at least that far back in the U.S.
