I can only think of one example of the saying.
The Soviets were the allies "friend" during the war and were the German's enemy after Barbarossa. Thus making them "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" from an Allies point of view.

this is my favorite mission of act 3, where the storyline really gets to you, especially with the soundtrack and sudden twist in loose ends. infinity ward did a great job with mw2, the soundtrack pairs perfectly with the mission.
