  • I totally just Google earthed it, and I counted about 132 ships on the beach. And that was just the big ones, there were hundreds of smaller boats dotted in between.

  • I have no words for this. This is disgusting!! This IS indeed criminal!! The fucking WTO HAS to do something about it!!

  • @eliconoclastadigital Check that. 22°26'32.26"N 91°43'49.69"E

  • I tried to find the same shot at @1:05, but I couldn't find it in Google Earth. Coordinates, someone?

  • shameful!

  • Anyone who says these people are "choosing" to work here needs to go fuck themselves.

  • These people are deliberately kept poor so that big corporations can get jobs like this done for next to nothing . Their goverment is corrupt for not insisting on safety measures for their people and the ship owners are evil for not caring about the welfare of others to an extent they will let them risk their lives to do a days work for them when they are in such a desperate position that they have no choce hes right its criminal they are traitors to the human race !

  • @phil8888, Its true. This video demonstrates how bad things are in Bangladesh. It doesn't really explain what can be done about it? Take away shipbreaking, and they will be even worse off, because a dangerous miserable job is better than no job at all. They do this because they lack alternatives. What can the WTO do? Can it, as a practical matter, enforce vague treaty assurances about worker safety made by diplomats?

  • @Duh6666666 $3.24 (USD I assume) would be A LOT of money for them. I doubt they make any where close to that.

  • Ok, force the companies to give these workers $5 an hour and provide them with gas masks and hard hats, and you know what will happen? The shipping companies will instead just let the ships sink because they can't recoup their costs. Now, instead of workers getting injured, all of them will starve to death.

  • What's the alternative? I sympathize with these workers and can't imagine even spending one day doing this kind of stuff, but as usual these liberals are thinking only with their hearts and not with their heads. These workers are CHOOSING to work here. Yes, it's terrible, but it's their best option.

Years ago, because of Western protests, clothing sweat shops in Bangladesh were forced to close because of demands for better conditions. The result: women forced into prostitution.
