Could the act of consuming a mushroom send a signal to an extraterrestrial civilization, allowing them to establish the location of intelligent life in the universe?

This is an audio excerpt from a untitled lecture made by Terence at a UFO conference. The audio file I used is called "UFOs.mp3", which can be found at:

  • I'm not sure what to think about psilocybin mushrooms, but during & after my first experience I:

    A) Excitedly felt like my body was in a super-organizational state, B) figured out & wrote down how all conscious actions are methods of communication as varieties of language & information exchange, C) felt greater in my life than I ever have, D) a year-long headache disappeared E) could think 2x as fast as I ever have been able to F) confidence skyrocketed.

    I meticulously concluded: 100% good.

  • @SilvrDragon52 Wow, that sounds exactly like my trips. Very spot on! The mental clarity they provide is truly astounding. I've heard that they can help with migraine headaches. They certainly are a valuable tool for human consciousness.

  • I like McKenna, but here he is totally wrong. Mushrooms arent just the things that make you high....they can kill you...they are ranging from mold (which is extremely important in the evolution of life) to edible mushrooms. They are unique, but they're not alien.

  • @derbigpr500 I'm in your boat, what Terence is saying sounds pretty crazy, but the existence of poisonous mushrooms doesn't really discredit his theory. If a hypothetical alien civilization was in fact dispersing spores into space, it would not know what sort of organisms would inhabit each planet. So it would make sense to send out a varied mix of spores to maximize the potential of contacting life.

  • @derbigpr500 Mushrooms which are poisonous to humans might end up being used as a pizza topping by some life-form in the Andromeda galaxy, and common bread mold might give them the equivalent of a DMT trip. If you were in the alien's position, it would be wise to cover your bases and send out a huge variety of spores.

  • This guy is fucking MENTAL!!! I mean in a good way. What an amazing thought process, just splendid! I love him alread & I only found him 2 hours ago! BRILLIANT!

Always great to hear new people finding out about Terence. He's made dozens of lectures, all of which are outstanding but I typically suggest listening to "Eros and Eschaton" for someone new to him. I think it's one of his best.

Good point. When you take mushrooms, you could be speaking with an alien civilization halfway across the universe, some sort of spiritual entity/god, or you could simply be having a conversation with your own subconscious. Nobody knows for sure, but no matter which one is true, it is extremely significant!

  • @MakeItEmphatic and @derbigpr500 ... how Terrence said that the 4th phosphoric position of the indole tryptamine is unique to our environment makes me think that the psilocybin may have a specific outworld purpose such as communication... but as any of us that have experience with tryptamines know of the alien nature of the consciousness reached... So I wonder are tryptamines the language of creation and is psilocybin the phone home to God

  • @derbigpr500 For all we know, all DNA itself comes from outer space, making not only the mushroom "extraterrestrial" in origin, but ourselves also. So Mckenna's focussing upon a unique chemical signifying the work of ETs would be misguided if this perspective was correct.

  • @WorshipInTruth exactly ...humans search for aliens on this dimension..on this universe..with a physical form... I believe they exist on a different dimension and they are more like spirits.. thats why scientists will never find them :)

  • @light7est wow.... i would like my parents to be that openminded

  • Let's just say shrooms ARE a connection with alien lifeforms. If this is so then this incredibly advanced civilization must have had some intent or reason to share this with us. Perhaps it is the catalyst to propel us to a level of mental evolution like them. I for one recognize how my world changed after my first trip. The layers of humanity's bullshit were peeled away so to speak. A population in which we have all shared this profound experience would be nothing but good.

  • @MakeItEmphatic Maybe in some weird way those 2 possibilities are synonymous.

  • This is such a fucking awesome argument
