@ydimkthis I mean when you read them, they really do sound stupid and preposterous because who could be that irrational about being afraid of the night and some bugs other than children? But looking at this in a different point of view, it reflects how silly someone would act just to have their loved one around. Making up stupid excuses and trying to support them by saying "oh it's late, public trans doesn't really work here anyway" that's all stuff you would hear in a relationship or something.
