This game is a mix of styles, but basically it's an futuristic 3D detective Action RPG with open ended gameplay. Collect clues and find missing people.
@Badboyandyw Oh Yes ! I loved Captive 1 ! it's still one of the games that gave me most fun in my life (and i have an xbox 360 now with lots of games), i ran through 11 or 12 space stations, loved these btw. in the survival horror style FPS/RPG :D
Got to say Captive 1 was by far the best... I am learning C++ at the moment but with the aim of remaking Captive with sharper graphics and weapons with no delay with 1 droid (easier to manage) don't expect too much too quickly though :)
I used 2 love this game, I was gutted when I stepped on my CD32 cable and the metal bit that connected it 2 the console snapped off. That was a sad day, oh well, got a playstation soon after. Would love 2 play this again though.
That is one ugly game. I was an Atari ST owner, so never got to play Liberation.
Captive on the other hand is my all time favorite game, it was incredible, still is incredible. Tony Crowther needs to get his finger out and port it to the iPhone or something - iPhone and iPad are crying out for a more cerebral game like Cappo.
I think the version I had of this was bugged, you were supposed to send members your team of Droids off on individual missions, but every time I went through a door or portal they would end up together anyway. Also, the buildings were all like the tardis, fucking huge when you got into them and very easy to get lost in. I never had any idea where I was going, I did spend a lot of time running around talking to randomers. Great voice acting BTW.
they REALLY fucked this game.. why bother going 3d when you could do a fucking AWESOME looking 2d game?? the original was 2d and pissed all over this one.. the 3d shit was just to show off the new 1200 technology.. fuck that... show off the colors in some SUPER DUPA 2d sprites that make the first one look like a zx spectrum.. but NO!! they had to go with low level bullshit looking 3d .. shame.. could have been amazing.
i remember getting the computer protocols device to work, once you had hacked in, it was possible to use the device to do everything you could do while at a computer terminal.
Essentially it turned into a laptop! Playing it years later, I have no idea how I did it.
Same thing as changing the names of the robots, no idea how I achieved it all those years ago.
Loved this game, how I'd love a remake on current consoles/computers
