Just read the original feature this was posted at. I'm guessing "Double Dragon IV" was actually the SNES-exclusive "Super Double Dragon", which was a beat-em-up like the previous games. After "Super", decided to do their own "Double Dragon" sequel without Technos Japan's (the original developer) involvement. There was another DD fighting game after this one for the Neo-Geo, but this time developed by Technos themselves.

You're correct - Super Double Dragon was considered part IV which is why they called this one Double Dragon V. I need to go back and clarify that. It was still dumb to call it Double Dragon V since it was based on the animated series instead of the previous games; although that was the least dumb thing about the game I suppose.

WHAT are you talking about? It doesn't matter if the hardware kicks the most ass if you can't get good games for it! Jaguar failed because it was too difficult to program for and thus lacked a number of good games. SEGA tried, first with the CD, then with 32X, then with Saturn, SNES outlived all of that and N64 came along. Atari's 2600 outlived the better, but buggy, 5200. SEGA Dreamcast whooped ass when it came, and about a year later, it was dead. SNES (almost Genesis too) had most best games.

Double Dragon 5 is the worse fighting game ever..... I remember renting it when it just came out for sega genesis...... What a waste of a week end that was.

Yeah, it's one of the biggest, maybe THE biggest flop in console history, but I love it. I've got 8 games for it right now and they're all great. I still don't know why people think Starfox looks better than Cybermorph. Starfox is somehow brighter even though it uses bland colours, Cybermorph has a lot more colour and everything is much smoother. Plus with Cybermorph you can fly wherever you want. With Starfox you're practically on rails. But whatever, it doesn't matter.

SNES did better then cybermorph with starfox! A game that not only looks better, but plays better. Hell Virtua Racing on the Genesis kicks checkered flag's ass on the Jaguar all over the place. JAG Sucks, and shall forever go down in time as one of the biggest flops in Video Game History!!! The Atari 2600 is by far a better system!

Exactly!!!! Atari had decent hardware that was more powerful on PAPER.... BUT NO FUCKING GAMES! The 3DO was more powerful then the SNES or the Sega, but it sucked. These ARTARDS like to talk about how powerful the Jaguar was and thats it. Its like they have little man syndrome. I prefer the Atari 2600,7800, and even the 5200 over the Jaguar piece of shit.

Even if the Jaguar has a better version of Doom or Alien VS Predator that still means jack shit. You are comparing to a fucking 16bit system. If it was as great as some of you ARTARDS say it is then I guess we would have another Atari system. It was a flop and most of those games could be done on a 16 bit system. Yea the Jaguar is a more powerful as a system. But so what!! Its means nothing without any games. 3 or 4 good games is not enough.

Doing a simple comparison of Doom on both the Jaguar and SNES is proof that the SNES didn't have the power of the Jaguar. SNES (or Megadrive) couldn't have handled games like Iron Soldier, Alien vs Predator or even I-War. Maybe at a push the SNES could've done Cybermorph, but there would be a lot more flat shading and a lower resolution. The SNES is powerful but to say it could replicate the Jaguar's entire library is just fuckin' stupid.

Yeah the Jaguar was just not what was needed to start off a new generation of hardware. It did flat polygons with a choppier frame rate than Virtua Racing on the Genesis in many cases, and really wasn't a well made 3d game system.

3DO was better in terms of design, but they it saw fit to arm it with a 12mhz processor. Geez. Sony made a system that could recreate Ridge Racer, and any developer could get textured 3d running smooth on it.

There wasn't a chance for the Jag or the 3DO.

i think its funny how the 32x hell even the megdrive version of virtua racing has better graphics and framerate than checkered flag

There are a few real good games for the Jag, but the game library is thin nevertheless... Bubsy shown here I have on my Jag, but it's nothing to the SNES games.

Instead I'd say

Tempest 2000

Alien vs Predator

Rayman

Ultra Vortek

Doom (best console vers after PS1)

...too bad most of the Jag games are bad (including most of mine :/ )
