This is a stock Soldano SLO with Groove Tube KT66C power tubes through a THD HotPlate and a 2x12" open-back cab. The cab is loaded with two Weber Blue Dog speakers - both are 30-watt and one is the alnico version and the other is the ceramic version. I'm also using that little Egnater cab that's loaded with an Egnater speaker. There's a Rocktron Intellifex LTD in the loop. My guitar is a Gibson R8 Les Paul with a Rio Grande BBQ humbucker in the bridge.

  • Yeah! Grind it into Hamburger buddy ... what was your volume for that initial grind?

  • @AASTRANGE Thanks dude! I honestly don't remember, but I almost always played loud at home. My guess is that it was cranked up pretty well!

  • what make is that les paul?

o and would that amp be any good with a really heavy distortion pedal?

  • @imyourenewGOD It's a 1958 Reissue Les Paul made in 2006. I bought it new and it's been my #1 since then.

I dunno about a really heavy distortion pedal with the SLO. The amp is badass on it's own!

  • hey mate the speakers sound good. do they sound full enough in person (with plenty of bass/body, etc)?? im considering installing the same speaker setup in a 2x12 cab but need to know if it will cut it

  • @aektzis91 That cab/speakers had ALOT of low end. So much that I'd have to turn the bass down alot more than normal with any other cab. I'm not sure how much of that was from the cab design itself or the speakers. I think probably the cab design. Unfortunately, I didn't get to try these speakers with any other cab.

  • @imyourenewGOD I think you would have all the distortion you would ever need, from the amp alone. And it sounds good.Thats a bad motherfucker.

  • Nice - props for the Loudness jam on a Soldano - subtle wit there...

  • sounds muffled and way over bassy to my ears sarge.

  • yeah...Montrose...great tune hun...! Ever tried a weber 15" (michigan) speaker with huge distortion ? Thanks a lot.

  • hi there do you prefer the ceramic or alnico blue dog?? :D

i cant decide whether to couple them together (as you have) or whether to use either with a ceramic silver bell..?

  • Sounds amazing. Never sell her. How do you like the THD attenuator? Does it color your sound at all?

  • @SgtThump can this amp handle metal? it sounds so fooking sweet! are ya just going straight in to the amp here? no fx pedals.. im using a 5150 3 at mo, but i want something better sounding.. and three channels is too much for me anyways. love how simple the slo is! cheers
