A dark, controversial and topical poem that criticizes the growing culture of greed and entitlement that has pervaded our modern society. It warns that if we continue to accommodate this trend we risk bringing about our own socioeconomic ruin.
I just watched a video about eliminating the aggressiveness of Russian foxes by domestication through selective breeding. Human traits may also be "genetically predisposed." Not all people are as kind as others. watch?v=YbcwDXhugjw
Your work is intense! You are attempting to mirror what you see with words, In so doing, you are re-enforcing what you see as gringe-worthy. Your writing is visceral and serves to alienate those who are trapped in the safety of damned stereotypes. Try redefining their ugly vices so that they will desire your freedom and want to serve you. In the big picture, Nature is neutral, and doesn't chose sides. Your work is powerful stuff!
Thank you, Lara, for another great upload, and especially for sending it my way so it could more easily be on my radar in a busy week. This work is so alliterative and textured, and has a compelling sense of urgency, surely warranted by the pernicious entitlement you mention. Your well-structured poems contain such a range of emotion and experience. Nice work. Best to you and yours. :) E
Oh my... you are profound. So sad, but too true. Every word, every picture... Strong poem.
