We stayed in the motel right past the Citgo stationed you passed. That is where we met the owner of the Wheels Through Time museum. He invited us over for a free personal tour the next day before the museum opened to the public. Very awesome place.

@Wilks89 When I go back I still think I will stay over in Maggie Valley for one day but I really have to recommend Deal's Gap for a few nights as well. The crowd there just makes the entire experience so much more valuable... I enjoyed the talking and the people more than I enjoyed the riding. It's so nice to be surrounded by people like myself who actually understand why we ride...

@dodgerider26 Oh yeah, staying at the resort is the only way to go. The people there are great and it is so nice to have the dragon at your door step. We have a group that goes up there every year on the first week of Aug. Normally there from Sun - Fri, then hit up Maggie Valley or G'Burg for the weekend. Hope you got a chance to meet Ben, the owner of the Resort. Him and his staff there are top notch people.

@Wilks89 If you can remember to remind me next year I may be up for it or I may be buying a house... tough bet which will be happening but ya never know!
The entire crew at Deal's Gap is absolutely fantastic. That's what I call southern hospitality!

@Wilks89 I should clarify for others.. the reason I think it's so vital for motorcyclists to stay in Maggie Valley is twofold. The area is absolutely stunning--by far the best mountain range area in the entire trip. Not only that, but it is right next to the Indian Reservation which is another area I wished I could have spent some time. Two is that the roads going up and then back down out of Maggie Valley are killer. They are far more technical than the dragon is and therefore are worth riding.
