In this video, Dr. Anderson explains fundamental -- but often misunderstood -- concepts about the determinants of cardiac output using his hydraulic model of the cardiovascular system.

Part Three demonstrates the differing determinants of cardiac output during states of myocardial energy excess and myocardial energy failure, and summarizes the total findings of Dr. Anderson's demonstration.

Please visit http://cardiac-output.info for a transcript of the video, a downloadable texbook, and additional materials.

Robert M. Anderson, MD (1920-2010) was Associate Professor of Surgery and Associate Dean of the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson, Arizona, and a Fellow of both the American College of Cardiology and the American College of Surgeons.
