Rindik is a Balinese bamboo instrument usually played in a quartet, 2 on Rindik and 2 on flute. Here's a little piece from our backyard called 'Paksi Ngelayang' or 'Hoovering Bird' in English.

di banjar biasanya ada atau tanya aja siapa bisa main rindik dan mendekatinya untuk belajar

  • Hey that's neet! I don't supose I'll find one of those in the States....

  • if you can't find one in the States there's always the option of trying to build one or have one sent over. :) It is a very relaxing instrument both for the player and listener. Great for all ages!

  • oh .. i picked up playing rindik with a balinese friend here back in 97'ish and then practised it further with a rindik-maker in Denpasar. Rindik is a 'casual' instrument and you can find people here and there playing it to pass time or take a break. You could say i learned it 'here and there' and at home but also had 2 great balinese players to help me on the way. :)
